SUN GOD FOR A CAUSE

Thank you to all of our volunteers for helping to make Sun God for a Cause a successful service project. See you all at the Festival!

In years past, Sun God For A Cause has raised donations from the UCSD Student Body for charities such as Photocharity, last year’s spotlight organization. This year however, Sun God For A Cause has chosen to contribute a more tangible difference to our local San Diego community. Sun God For A Cause has chosen to partner with Father Joe’s Villages and San Diego Habitat for Humanity to help promote their causes and participate in service trips with each organization.

Father Joe’s Villages

San Diego has the fourth largest homeless population in the United States, with 8742 recorded individuals living without shelter as of January 2015. Father Joe’s Villages is an organization that aims to combat homelessness and the issues that come along with it. In addition to offering housing solutions, Father Joe’s Villages also provides healthcare, education, and employment services for those who need it. Their mission is to help those in need, providing a "Continuum of Care" that promotes a pathway to self-sufficiency and independence.

San Diego Habitat For Humanity

Seeking to put God’s love into action, San Diego Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Habitat was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, decent and affordable home to live in dignity and safety. Their programs are focused on creating homes for ownership by low-income families in need, offering a hand up, not a handout. Habitat homes are built with donations of money, materials and labor. Since 1988, SDHFH has built over 200 homes throughout San Diego County, serving 900 men, women and children, with the support of nearly 200,000 volunteers and generous corporate and government partners.
