Transportation

Having a plan for getting to and from campus safely is part of the safe Sun God experience. Parking and transportation on campus is heavily impacted on the day of the Sun God Festival. Please don't drink and drive! Leave your car at home and use one of these convenient transportation alternatives:

A.S. Safe Rides

UCSD Associated Students has teamed up with Lyft to provide a safe ride when you need it. Check out A.S. Safe Rides for more information and to sign up!

How It Works

  • *NEW* Add your UCSD email to your Lyft account as a Business Profile email and receive an instant $15 credit.
  • Enter the promo code that you will receive once you have used the sign-up form below. Each quarter you will receive a new promo code. This will unlock 2 free rides up to $10 this quarter (redemption limits apply).
  • Request a Lyft within the app during the hours of 6PM – 2:59AM, 7 days a week.
  • Take a ride within the approved boundaries.

Existing Lyft Users

Once you have received the promo code, enter it into the Promotions section of your app. This will add the Safe Ride promo credit into your Promo section.

New Lyft Users

Sign up and download the Lyft app on your phone. Once you have received the promo code, enter it into the Promos section of your app.

Important Details

  • The UCSD promo will allow for 2 free rides up to $10 (until redemption limits are hit, 800 max).
  • Rides will only be covered by UCSD between the hours of 6PM – 2:59AM, 7 days a week.
  • You must have a ucsd.edu email address linked to your Lyft account in order to use the UCSD button in the app. Need to add the email address to your account? See instructions below.
  • The UCSD Safe Ride Code must be used on rides that begin or end within approved boundaries (see map). Rides taken OUTSIDE of the approved boundaries will NOT be covered by UCSD.
  • Promotion will expire when maximum redemption limits are hit or on March 23, 2019.

Email Address Update

You must have a ucsd.edu email address linked to your Lyft Business Profile in order to use the UCSD Safe Ride code in the app. You can update your account information by following these steps:

  1. Sign in to your Lyft account from your mobile device
  2. Click on the "Settings" tab
  3. Select "Business Profile"
  4. Type in your UCSD email address
  5. Confirm your email address by clicking the confirmation button in the email sent to your inbox

Ride an MTS Bus

The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System provides bus service to the UC San Diego campus. The following routes will run on Saturday, April 30th (click the route number to see the route schedule):

Route 201:

  • UTC → UCSD → La Jolla Village Square → UTC
  • Arrives/Departs UCSD approx. every 15 minutes

Route 202:

  • UTC → La Jolla Village Square → UCSD → UTC
  • Arrives/Departs UCSD approx. every 15 minutes

Route 921A West:

  • Mira Mesa → Sorrento Valley → La Jolla Village Dr & Genesee → UCSD
  • Arrives/Departs UCSD approx. hourly

Route 921A East:

  • UCSD → La Jolla Village Dr & Genesee → Sorrento Valley → Mira Mesa
  • Arrives/Departs UCSD approx. hourly
